The reduction of pain was attributed to CBD reducing the activity of glutamate channels in the brain. Also, CBD has been found to have some antioxidant properties in certain animal studies, which may help prevent degenerative diseases such as dementia. 

Common diseases and conditions

Like other anti-oxidants, CBD seems to have benefits for a number of common diseases and conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease. While there has been little research on CBD’s benefits for these or other conditions, there are a few promising studies out there. For example, two small studies found that CBD reduces blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes. Another study even suggests that CBD might have a beneficial effect on retinopathy (lazy eye), but further studies need to be done to verify these findings. A high blood pressure study, however, did find a significant reduction in high blood pressure in people taking 600 mg of CBD daily for two months.
